Country Pea Soup recipe

Country Pea Soup

Serve this easy pea-sy soup as a wonderful starter to your spring meal!


1 lb split green peas
8 cups water
4 cups tomato juice
1 1/2 cups diced potato
1 cup diced celery
1 cup diced onion
1 cup diced carrot
1 small bay leaf
1 ham bone
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper


1. Place peas in a large stock pot. Add water and tomato juice. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover tightly and simmer for 45 minutes, or until peas are soft.

2. Dice potato, celery, onion, and carrot with your KUMA Chef's Knife and then add them to pot along with bay leaf and ham bone. Sprinkle salt and pepper. Cover again and simmer for another 45 minutes, or until vegetables are tender.

3. Lift out ham bone. Remove remaining pieces of ham from the bone and add into soup. Serve hot.
